Invergordon Service Base Service Base Extension and Revetment ConstructionService: Civil Engineering Infrastructure
Daviot Group was awarded a multi-million pound civil engineering contract by McLaughlin & Harvey to support the high-profile expansion of the Invergordon Service Base, with a view to increasing capacity for large vessels and facilitating the growing renewable energy sector.
The project included extension of the service base and construction of an armor stone revetment. This allowed the creation of a heavy load quay and concrete deck, protecting the platform against tidal erosion and absorb wave action.
The works involved quarrying in excess of 135,000 tonnes of rock and using GPS-directed machinery to create a rock structure. Daviot invested in state-of-the-art equipment to ensure the works were completed safely, accurately and efficiently.

CMS Cable Installation Caithness – Moray – Shetland High Voltage Ducted CableService: Power Cable Installation
Working with ABB to accommodate the new generation of energy from renewable sources, it has been necessary for a major improvement of the transmission network for SSE serving the north of Scotland to be delivered.
Work on the subsea cable link, capable of carrying up to 1,200MW of electricity, began in early 2015 and Daviot were contracted to excavate the cable trench, lay the cable and reinstate the trench, as well as many other small but vital works. The power cable stretches 50km; 30km in Caithness, the north of Scotland, and 20km in Moray, on the east coast.
An underwater cable connecting the two sites will be installed by specialists across the Moray Firth. This significant and innovative power cable installation project represents the largest investment in the north’s electricity network since the 1950’s.
